1962 Sebring MGB |
Most MGBs that crop up on eBay US tend to sell for under $10,000. So when you see one listed for $100,000, you be forgiven for thinking someone's been a bit overzealous with the zeros.
But that's not the case with this superb 1962 MGB, which is a bona-fide piece of MG racing history.
One of the three BMC Competitions Department MGBs to enter the 1964 Sebring endurance race (and one of the two B's to finish the 12-hour marathon), this car has been meticulously restored to its original Sebring specification.
Back in 2004, the car sold at auction house RM for a whopping $104,500. It's somewhat surprising to see it resurface on eBay of all places, and not at a specialist classic car auction event. Whilst guaranteed to generate a great deal of buzz, it will be interesting to see if this historic MGB attracts any bids, what with the current market volatility, and with many having recently lost a fair chunk from their portfolios.
