Spring Update

3rd March 2009

One Hour To Go Spring is on its way - although you wouldn't know it by the weather! The site has been enhanced with two new sections. Firstly, MG AuctionWatch visitor Jim Merz contacted me to suggest a Smiths instrumentation search. Jaeger instruments have been added into the mix too - you can give the searches a whirl here. Thanks for the great suggestion Jim - if anyone else has an idea for a search that would be of use to them, just drop me a line and I'll add it to the site.

Secondly, one of the sections mentioned in the last news snippet has come to fruition. Called One Hour To Go, it predictably lists those MG items that are soon to fall under the hammer, with less than an hour to go on the auction. The idea is that it might be a useful place to snap up a last-minute bargain that's gone unnoticed. Use the dropdown on the One Hour To Go page to select your MG model of interest, and best of luck!

Safety Fast MG AuctionWatch received a few column inches in the November issue of Safety Fast!, the monthly organ of the MG Car Club. (click the image on the right to read the article in full). Slowly but surely, the word is spreading! If you're a regular visitor to this site, why not tell a fellow enthusiast, friend or club member about it?

No Reserve Cars Now Labelled

8th November 2008

When browsing for cars on eBay, it's common to find a car at an encouragingly low bid price which on further investigation turns out to have a reserve price on it. To help guide you better towards potential bargains, MG AuctionWatch now highlights all cars for sale listings which do not have a reserve price (or whose reserve price has already been met) with the label No Reserve.

Finding Moss Parts on eBay

2nd November 2008

Moss Parts Moss is an excellent source of MG car parts, particularly for those in North America. At any one time on eBay there are hundreds of Moss Parts listed by fellow enthusiasts, often in new or unused condition. The new Moss Parts search now makes it easier to locate them.

With the new search, you can browse parts currently available on eBay for your preferred model of MG. Along with the usual item details you will also see the Moss Part number, if available, along with the Moss catalog's price for the part, for an at-a-glance comparison with the current eBay price. Alternatively, use the search box at the top to filter for a specific Moss part number.

MG Parts In Your Neighbourhood

29th October 2008

A Local MG Parts Search has been added to the website to complement the local cars for sale search. It allows you to search for MG parts on eBay for a given model within a specified distance of a postcode/ZIP code, and is ideal for those who prefer to deal locally face-to-face - or perhaps just for keeping an eye out for bulky parts that may turn up on the auction site in your area that otherwise would be costly to have shipped to you. I hope you find it of use!

Local MG Search Added

25th October 2008

MG Local Search The latest tool that has been developed for the site is a Local MG Search, which helps you locate MGs up for sale on eBay in a specific region of any of the five countries MG AuctionWatch currently caters for. Simply set the distance in which you wish to look, type in a valid postcode/ZIP code or equivalent for the country in question, and click Search.

After a short wait, any MGs for sale within that range will be displayed and labelled with a letter, and will also appear on an adjacent map marked by that letter. Roll the mouse over the photo of a car to see more details about that car, including current price, number of bids, and auction end time.

Visitors from the USA, Canada, Australia and Germany can also tick an option that will include other LBCs ("little British cars") in the search results, such as Triumph, Morris and Austin.

The search was quite a tricky bit of programming, so it's possible there may be a few bugs still in it. Please get in touch if you encounter any problems or unexpected behaviour, or if you have any other feedback or suggestions for the new tool.
