Like previous great biographies of Nike ("Swoosh"), Subaru ("Where The Suckers Moon") and more latterly Apple's Steve Jobs, it quickly becomes apparent in this book that behind every big brand is a great story. Make no mistake, DHL is a big brand. Founded by three Americans including the ill-fated Larry Hillblom, the 'H' in DHL, we discover in Fly By Night that the brand could have been consigned to history as a small US logistics company had it not been for the infusion of some Aussies and Kiwis who brought with them a 'can do' attitude. They took DHL from essentially a bicycle document delivery operation in London to a full blown courier operation covering the world. While others have written about "billionaire genius" Larry Hillblom, the truth is Larry couldn't have done it without Chris Reid and his team. The real story of DHL, the real secret of its success, is contained in these pages and it's an inspirational story. Highly recommended - Ian Wishart, Investigate Magazine
